This is the kind of information that should be standard issue, taught in every school. In our culture we have a narrow framework for what we think of as intelligence. Daniel Goleman ably demonstrates many types of intelligence that fall outside of the normal mindset. He assists us in developing these talents in ourselves as well as our children.

Areas of intelligence such as impulse control, self-awareness, persistence, empathy, self-motivation, and social skills are all discussed. It helped me to identify my weaknesses and strengths. Then I had the choice to change by investing in the growth required to strengthen myself. Sometimes we lean too heavily on one talent at the expense of something else. This tapes helps in raising awareness of all the types of emotional intelligence that exist. It also makes the point that it is just this kind of focus, which brings joy into the life process.
